Welcome to the Bosque Bassoon Band Web site. The Bosque Bassoon Band is dedicated to furthering public knowledge about the bassoon through performances, clinics and educational demonstrations.

Beginning as a series of informal reading sessions by bassoonists in the Albuquerque and Santa Fe area, the Bosque Bassoon Band was formed in 2004 and has performed at a variety of venues--from coffee houses to growers' markets and from the University of New Mexico to performances by invitation at the International Double Reed Society (IDRS) conferences in Austin, Texas, in 2005 and in Ithaca, New York in 2007.

Unique among the already unique world of bassoon ensembles, the Bosque Bassoon Band is open to professional bassoonists, students of all ages and people who have other professions and happen to play the bassoon as well.

Our library now consists of more than 380 titles--ranging from Mozart's Eine Kleine Nachtmusik and Pachelbel's Canon to marches like Thunder and Blazes and Stars and Stripes Forever to light classics like Over the Rainbow and Blue Skies to pieces composed specifically for the band like Daniel Davis's Rivers and Steven Smith's Enchanted Chamisa.  We are always exploring new music!

Consider hiring the Bosque Bassoon Band for your next event be it a wedding, bar mitzvah or private party.  Check out the news and events page for upcoming performances!
